Between October and April the Solway is the major British site for Barnacle Geese, up to 15,000 at a time descending.

Pintail ducks, Perigrine and Hen Harriers, Tufted ducks, Shovlers, Little Gulls and Grebes are all visitors here.

The river Lyne, Liddle and Eden also weave their way through the area providing ever greater opportunities for the wildlife enthusiast.
